Early Life & Political Career of Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya

Born on May 7, 1969, in Kaushambi district, K.P. Maurya is the son of Dhanapati Devi and the late Shyamlal Maurya. His father, who was a farmer, also ran a tea shop in Sirathu Nagar, while his mother was a homemaker. He has two brothers, Sukh Lal and Rajendra Kumar, and three sisters, Sumitra Devi, Kamlesh Kumari, and Asha Devi. In 1985, Keshav Prasad Maurya married Rajkumari Devi, and they have two sons, Ashish Kumar Maurya and Yogesh Kumar Maurya. He has been connected to the Bajrang Dal, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) since the 1980s. He played a significant role in the Ram Janmabhoomi and cow protection movements. In 1990, he oversaw the Kar Sewak group that was responsible for building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Maurya was the first Sirathu Tahseel BJP MLA in 2012. He oversaw the public works department (PWD), food processing, entertainment tax, and public enterprises department while serving as the BJP’s Phoolpur MP. On 18 March 2017, he was appointed the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. In 2022, Maurya contested for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly 2022 from the Sirathu seat in his native district of Kaushambi, but Pallavi Patel, a candidate for the Samajwadi Party, defeated him.
